Unreal Tournament (1999) Maps

Map Title CTF-ToxinRefinery Beta 4
Author Malcolm Smith
Game Type UT Capture the Flag
Recommended Players 6-16 (3- per team)
Extended Description An interesting "two forts" style UT CTF map. Each base has roof access, and there are 2 levels within each base. The theme is of a toxin refinery, so there are slime tubes and control panels in the flag room. The flag room has 5 exits: 2 tunnels to the front doors of the base, a ramp to the 2nd level, an elevator to the 2nd level, and an elevator to the roof/ redeemer ledge accessed with a lift jump. From the second floor, you can reach the roof, or take a lift to go underground, where there are hiding places, plus a covered walkway to the other base: complete with a floor grating you can see through, and streams of slime along the sides of the walkway. Outside, there are 2 main high paths, plus, on the side of each base, a fast moving slime river that can actually launch you to the other side of the map. A fun map to play with about 8 people.

Map Title CTF-Serenity v1.05
Author Malcolm Smith
Game Type UT Capture the Flag
Recommended Players 16-24 (8-12 per team)
Extended Description This is my first major Unreal Tournament map. It is a quite large CTF level, with large symmetrical bases, and two outside regions. The two main areas in the "middle ground" are a low, grassy area with pool and trees (and the shield belt), and a high, rocky area with boulders (and the redeemer suspended above lava, accessible by dodge ramps). The bases are also quite large, with many entrances/ exits. Some include: a vent, rocks jutting out of the base side walls to jump up to the top, ramps from the cliffs, a breakable glass pane to fall right onto the flag from, and two main entry ways (one includes stairs from the roof).

In short, this is a massive indoor/ outdoor level. I recommend 16-24 players for the best experience.

NOTE: Of course, gameplay on this map will be the best if you play with all humans, or
a majority of the players as humans. However, I tweaked bot support extensively in this edition. The bots shouldn't get stuck, they know how to reach the defense post in each base (I widened the ramp to it also), more DefensePoints were added, and pathnodes were tweaked overall. The bots now recognize the air vent as a way to each base/ out of the base. Also, the best improvement IMHO is that the bots even travel up to the roof to take the high cliff paths.

Map Title CTF-Serenity][ Build 18
Author Malcolm Smith
Game Type UT Capture the Flag
Recommended Players 8-16 (4-8 per team)
Extended Description Basically a remake of CTF-Serenity, to be smaller and more viable for traditionally sized games. This version is designed for 8-12 players. The level still has large symmetrical bases, and two outside regions. The two main areas in the "middle ground" are a low, grassy area with a pool and trees (and the shield belt), and a high, rocky area with boulders (and the redeemer suspended above lava, accessible by dodge ramps). There are also ramps from the top of each base up to a very high cliff area along the edges of the level. Exits from each team base include: 2 main entrances/ exits, a lift to go up high, and a breakable glass pane above the flag (which is both an entrance and exit, assuming you have jumpboots).

In short, this is a medium sized indoor/ outdoor level. I recommend 8-16 players for the best experience.

NOTE: Of course, gameplay on this map will be the best if you play with all humans, or
a majority of the players as humans. However, this Serenity remake also has bot support. But, they are very unlikely to go up on top of the base, or take the cliff paths (unlike the original).

Map Title CTF-MSTreeHouses
Author Malcolm Smith
Game Type UT Capture the Flag
Recommended Players 2-10
Extended Description Just a map I made in a few hours. Took only about 2-3, except a little longer to figure out how to get bots to use the jumppads correctly.

Basically two treehouses in huge trees, separated by many other trees. Looks simple, but it's a lot of fun to play. A shieldbelt is in the middle, and you can get the redeemer if you have "mad dodging skills."

2-10 players recommended, though there are more playerstarts if you want chaos. A very nice map for 1v1 CTF battles.
